Mellat Park directory
Salaam,
Despite the unpredictably heavy downpour of last night and a slight drop in the temperature early this morning, it was generally a fine and sunny day for most parts of the city today. The bright sunshine eventually tempted us to get out and drive around the city. We then asked to be dropped by at Valiasr Avenue, along Valiasr Street, the longest thoroughfare in the city, and decided to do some brisk walking at one of the four most beautiful and attractive parks of Tehran.
Known as the Shahanshahi (Imperial) Park before the revolution, Park-e Mellat or Nation or People's park, is one of the largest recreation and beautiful green areas of Tehran covering an area of about 341,000 sq metres. With its tall and old trees, lovely flower gardens, vast lawn areas, pathways, and glimmering lake, it provides a very relaxing atmosphere for visitors from all walks of life to enjoy the numerous facilities and other available services. Hence it has become a popular meeting place for young people and recreation area for the families.
Being a working day for most Iranians, it was not really as crowded as on Thursdays and Fridays. Hence we had all the time with us to explore and admire more of the natural surroundings, the beautiful flowers, sculptors and other artistic works in the lush green garden and one of the most popular park of the city.
Wassalam.
