The 3rd Ministerial Conference on Women's Role in the Development of OIC Member States began this morning at the Summit Conference Hall, Tehran. The three-day gathering was officially inaugurated by the honorable President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The opening day showed keen participation from a great number of OIC member states, headed and represented by ministers, deputy ministers, and senior officials, mostly female, as well as representatives from OIC affiliated bodies and organisations.
The Tehran's meeting seeks to highlight the magnificent role and potentials of Muslim women in Islamic societies as well as to further promote their constructive participation in various social, economic, political and cultural fields.
Indeed one of the major objectives of the meeting was to present a powerful image of a Muslim woman based on Islamic teachings...befitting the theme of this year's conference..."Women, The Economy and Family."
It was an honor for us too, the trailing spouses of the OIC member state's missions in Tehran to have been kindly invited to the opening ceremony by the host country this morning. Above all, it was indeed another great honor to also have the opportunity to meet and accompany our distinguished Head of delegation...Madame Datin Adina, Brunei Darussalam's Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, as well as our two lady-delegates to participate in this gathering.
So to our dear Datin and delegates, here's wishing you all the best wishes for a fruitful deliberation and discussion and a very successful outcome of the gathering for the next three days, and a happy, enjoyable and pleasant stay in Tehran.
Wassalam.
