Late Autumn Days...

Its the time of the year again...when the colors of leaves are beginning to turn brown and falling off their branches. Tehran enjoys a more moderate climate, but weather conditions can sometimes be unpredictably harsh. Its usually pleasant in Autumn, but nowadays the weather is often cooler especially in this hilly northern part as compared to the flat southern part of Tehran. Hence preparing for an early wintry and frosty days again ahead of us...Wallahua'lam....

Our Dear Guests from MoE...

Entertaining our two lady guests from the Ministry of Education of Brunei to a home-cooked Bruneian dinner at the residence yesterday evening. The two ladies, both Education Officers/Teachers, arrived in Tehran on Saturday for a three day ISESCO-conducted Regional Workshop. After three days of chelowkebab and kobideh, its time for them to savour Bruneian food once again before heading home today. It was indeed a great pleasure and opportunity to welcome, meet and to get acquainted with them in Tehran. Wishing you both best wishes and every success and thank you for the friendship and the great company and we look forward to meet you all once again when we are back home...InsyaAllah.

Found this new Japanese restaurant on Khodami (Bijan) street, in Vanak square today for our late brunch (after a half-day fasting for a medical check-up). Well, it was actually and exactly the old site of Serena, the previous Japanese restaurant which we used to visit and have since closed down.

Verdict: Quite exclusive and modern interior decor with a rather cozy ambience. The menu has changed from the previous owner and seem to have more choices and styles. We even had Korean kimchi for our starter apart from the usual Miso soup. However the price seems to be a little way up the average Japanese establishments that we had been to, and much too expensive when compared to our favorite Escapade back home or the various Sushi outlets in Dubai . Well, the food was relatively moderate and average in taste. The sushi platter was nevertheless quite good and comparable to other places that we have been to. Not a bad place at all for a quite evening rendezvous or a get together.

Eid-ul Adha Mobarak...

Celebrating another auspicious day in Tehran today....Eid-ul Adha or the feast of sacrifice. Our sixth Eid Adha celebration far away from home. We began the day with the usual Eid prayer at the Indonesian chancery building, courtesy of our gracious host, the Indonesian ambassador and his spouse. Later in the afternoon, fulfilling another Eid high tea invitation from our dear Malaysian friends.

"Verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest"....Holy Quran (13:28).

On this holy occasion of Eid-ul Adha, I wish the warmth of our friendship always remains the same. May Allah's Blessings always be with us...today and always.
