ASEAN Family Day 2009

unity in diversity...

Salaam,
The last couple of weeks have seen a flurry of activities in Tehran, especially among the ASEAN community. Beginning with the annual sports competition in early June, it culminated with the traditional ASEAN Family Day gathering, which also coincided with the ASEAN anniversary day on Saturday, 8th August 2009.
This year's get-together was coordinated by the Embassy of Vietnam and co-hosted by the Philippines Embassy which had kindly provided its vast residential garden as the venue. The occasion was also being held to bid farewell to the Ambassador of Malaysia and his charming lady, and our dear sister Madam Datin Sharifah Ikhlas.
The evening program kicked off with a welcoming speech from the Ambassador of Vietnam, followed by the presentation of prizes for the winners in the sports competitions. As in previous years, it was a fun-filled and enjoyable occasion particularly among the young ones, with games and entertainments, also for the not-so-young...
This being our fifth family day participation since we arrived in Tehran four and a half years ago, it was indeed a fitting occasion for the ASEAN community to get together, and for the newcomers, to get to know each other better, and above all to keep the spirit of ASEAN solidarity, camaraderie and unity, alive and high.
Wassalam...
