Salaam,It's still a public holiday in Tehran today commemorating the 15th of Khordad bloody Uprising of 1963 (it also coincides with the World Environment Day). Yesterday was the 21st anniversary of the demise of Iran's founding leader of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomenei.
Most of the streets in the capital were still deserted and so it was much easier to move around. After some window shoppings around Villa and Taleghani streets, popular for their handicraft's shops, we stopped by at a chic and friendly small restaurant in downtown Tehran, called Hormoz, an Arabian restaurant. Well, I could recall that we have been driving around this particular street many a time before but never come across this one. Actually it was recommended by our good Malaysian colleague the other day, so we thought of giving it a try for our lunch today. Apparently it is quite close by from the main Hafte Tir square.
Opened up six years ago, the main restaurant hall is in the basement floor as in many similar establishments in the city area. It is quite spacious though, cosy and just the right ambience. The food selection is also excellent, specialising mainly in Arabic cuisine. The hormuz is just perfect, reminiscing us of our good old days in Amman and Damascus. Good selection of grilled seafood as well as kebabs varities of Arabic version...
