As I mentioned in my earlier post, our one and only walnut fruit tree in the garden by now is ready for the picking. In fact we should have reaped the fruit last month. When we did today, it wasn't so hard to take the nut out of its green flesh. And it wasn't as bountiful as we earlier anticipated, perhaps the windy and rainy session of the previous months took its toll on some of the still young and fragile fruits.
But above all, the fun and joy of reaping the nuts while waiting for the time to break the fast, at least helped us forget for a while, the dreary, monotonous and loneliness of life in a far away land.
