Winter Time begins...

Iran News...

Salaam,

As announced by the government yesterday, winter time in Iran will begin on Monday, September 21st. As from 24.00hrs (midnite) this morning, all clocks will be pulled back one hour. Hence this will mean Tehran time will be four and a half hours behind Brunei, Malaysia and Singapore times. And it will also mean shorter daylight for the next six months or so.

Anyway, have a nice day...

Wassalam.

A Gift from A Dear Friend...

On the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul Fitr 1430H, I received a very special Eid gift from a very dear friend and colleague. Words couldn't describe how delighted and grateful I am, Bu. With my deepest appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to you indeed, for your kindness and thoughtfulness. May the choicest blessings of Allah SWT fill your life, and your loved ones, with peace, health, joy and prosperity always.

Eyd-e-Fetr Mubarak 1430 Hijrah...

sign board to commemorate the auspicious day, at Azadi Sq.
Salaam,
Allahu Akbar...Allahu Akbar...Allahu Akbar...Walillahil hamdu...
For the very first time in our four and a half years of living in Iran, Eid-ul Fitr or Hari Raya Aidil Fitri was celebrated simultaneously on the same day as in most other countries in the region and indeed over a majority of the Muslim world...Alhamdulillah. This year the auspicious day of 1st of Syawal 1430 Hijrah fell on Sunday, 20th of September.
As in the last four previous Eid Fitr or Eyde-e-Fetr in Persian, our day began with a mass congregational Eid prayer, many thanks once again to the kindness of our Indonesian Ambassador and community for unfailingly hosting the annual morning ritual. And as usual it was followed by a sumptuous refreshment and breakfast of delectable selection of Indonesian cuisines from their different provinces.
In addition, we also had a great opportunity to listen to a highly spiritual and heart-rendering sermon after the prayer from a very notable Indonesian Islamic preacher, especially flown from Jakarta during the holy month of Ramadhan and Syawal.
We also had the opportunity to meet and mingle with a few Indonesian parliamentarians and their delegation who happened to be in Tehran on an official mission.
Overall it was another first morning of Eid of quality time well-spent with our ASEAN as well as other Muslim colleagues from Kenya. And for the rest of the day...need an extra-creativity of mind to really pass the time by, since there were nothing much to do then, followed by an afternoon siesta after that...who knows you could be lucky enough to dream of all those beautiful Hari Raya nostalgia of the days gone by, back home, which we've been missing so very very much...
Eid Mubarak to all Muslim readers and visitors to my blogsite...
Wassalam.

KFC in Tehran...

Salaam,
When you are in a rush for a quick, simple yet decent meal in Tehran, you can be rest assured to find all kinds of fast food outlets in almost every corner of the city streets. Varieties of them - ranging from all kind of sandwiches, kebabs, shwarma, pasta and pizzas are just within the vicinity and walking distance from your place of work, or home.
However, have you ever try eating out at or ordering a take-away from a KFC restaurant in Tehran? Well, don't be surprised to see one somewhere around the Tajrish area. In fact we found out this outlet for the very first time couple of years ago whenever we felt like having a simple meal, and particularly when the children missed their real KFC back home. According to some locals, it was indeed, and used to be a Kentucky Fried Chicken before the revolution, but eversince was converted to its present name.
Well, not bad esp for those who really are longing n craving for the real one. Taste like real fried chicken of course, and still finger-lickin' good too!!
Wassalam.
