Khuzestan...(3)

As Salaam,

From Shushtar and Chogha Zanbil, we made our way southward to Ahwaz, the provincial capital of Khuzestan, where we spent the second and last night of the tour.

After breakfast Saturday morning, it was time to pack up, checking out and getting ready for our last part of the visit program, a tour of Ahwaz city and a visit to Khuzestan Steel Industry.

Being the largest city of the province, Ahwaz consists of two distinctive districts. The newer part of Ahwaz, where the administrative and industrial center are located, has been built on the right bank of the Karoon river, while the residential areas are mainly found on the left bank in the old section of the city.

The Khuzestan Steel Company (KSC) which we visited and had lunch at prior to our departure back to Tehran later in the afternoon, is located in the vicinity of Ahwaz city. Established in 1973, the steel company is currently the second largest crude steel producer in Iran and one of the most pioneer economical agencies in the country.

Khuzestan is exceptionally rich in terms of cultural attractions, but the beauty of nature in this province is no less attractive. Iranian of different races such as Fars, Lors and Arabs live in this province and speak in Persian, Arabic languages and Lori dialect.

A worthwhile and very fruitful tour indeed in helping to enhance our knowledge of the diversity of the country's cultural, social and economic richness and potentials. A big thank you, gratitude and appreciation to the organiser of the tour in Tehran and Khuzestan.

Wassalam.
