Tulips Garden of Alborz...

Karaj dam...serenity and tranquility...

As-Salaam,

Saturday, May 7th: It was a day of colors, breed and variety of tulips all over the 10,000 square meters garden in Gachsar, Garmab village, Asara county in the beautiful province of Alborz this morning. Leaving Tehran early in the morning, cruising along the old and winding road of the one-lane Karaj-Chalous highway, we finally arrived an hour and a half later at the site of Iran's biggest tulip festival nationwide.

Inaugurated on May 4, the two-week annual event is the 13th Festival of Tulips held in cooperation with the Alborz Cultural Heritage Department and the provincial governor's office. Located along km 50 of the Karaj-Chalous highway, Garmab village in the county of Asara is considered as one of the most suitable sites for growing tulips in Iran, due mainly of its snowy winters and long days in spring. However this year, due to the prolonged cold weather in spring, the festival is being held a week later.

According to local report, some 1,400 types of unique tulips in 22 colours are being showcased and displayed during the festival.

It was a very pleasant and refreshing day outing for us and indeed for all discerning tulips lovers to experience one of the country's unparalleled, delightful and most captivating ecotourism.

Wassalam.
