Mum's Old Recipe...

Brunei old time n traditional cookies...

Salaam,
Its Sunday today, but somehow still have to endure the persistently cold winter weather. Seemingly nothing much to do but to stay indoor. There ought to be something to do...some creativity to beat the idleness. That's when I remembered one of mum's old time favorite cookies which she used to make for us when we were still little teens. I couldn't actually recall it's exact name, but we used to call it "kuih karing" in Brunei. Or perhaps "kuih ribin" due to its ribbon shape. Another ingenuous and homely tea time's titbits to prepare and make in the old days when you simply didn't have the luxury of today's varieties of choicest bakeries and confectioneries around. Glad that both our children love them so much when they were still here.
So once in a while, munching old time cookies such as this in a far away land, at least helps to bring back the nostalgia of home and memories of the days gone by....
Wassalam.
